All is quiet on the home front. But it's merely the calm before the storm that is the upcoming Easter weekend!! The Baha Men will be out in force. A resounding chorus that will be audible around every corner along a 40km stretch of the river. Boats on the water till nine at night and a general abundance of stupid drunk fisherman on every sandbar and in front of the lodge. Of all the weekends in the year, Easter is perhaps the one I look forward to the least. The Dogs Are Out and they're headed this way!! At least the fishing isn't too bad. Got a nice little 7lber at the Baya Baya slipway the other day. Decided that i don't even need a boat to fish anymore. Could just as easily reverse the cruiser into the water at the slipway and just fish from there seeing as it's the only place we're catching at the moment.
This week has also brought a rather unseasonal period of rainy weather. Somewhat annoying as my newly graded roaded is now pock marked with hippo spoor again. It didn't even last a week!! But the rain has rejuvinated my lawns which were taking a bit of strain in the heat we've been having.
William WaliT also popped in briefly this morning to drop something off before he shot off to go buy Salaula at the Banana Farm market with the rest of the staff.
Happy Easter....;))The Commodore

TWO elderly women are battling for life in Solwezi General Hospital after an irate mob from Sichisengo village descended on them on suspicion that they bewitched a girl to death.North-Western Province police chief Innocent Kalebwe named the duo as Mika Nyamalia 70, and Chiyezhi Nayakasule 65, both of Sichisengo village in Chief Kapijimpanga’s area. They were suspected of having bewitched Alice Sakashenda, a grade 11 pupil. The incident happened on Tuesday.Mr Kalebwe said the two women were only saved from the mob after police went in and quelled the situation.“Quick action by the police saved their lives as the angry mob did not want to spare their lives,” he said.Mr Kalebwe however said police would continue to investigate after the two recovered. He said trouble started when the relatives of Sakashenda took her body to the place where the two women lived and told them to have the body as that was what they wanted.“When the girl died, her relatives took the body to the house of the women and told them to eat her saying that was what they wanted” Mr Kalebwe said.He said when the other villagers heard about the death, they all assembled at the house and descended on the women.
